A new outdoor painting event that combines extreme winter conditions with the passion to paint. February 13 – 23, 2023.

February, the month that seems to drag on endlessly. It can be cold and gloomy, but that’s no reason not to get outside. We thought we’d spice things up a bit and host a new plein air event to encourage artists to get out and capture the beauty of winter.

Here’s what you need to know about Extreme Plein Air:

WHEN: Week of Feb 13th – 23rd, 2023

WHY: Let’s have some February fun!

WHAT: Artists paint “en plein air” during mid-February, submit photos from the field for a chance to win prizes. Then we celebrate with a plein air party @ Finer Frames on Thurs Feb 23rd.

Choose your best outdoor painting created that week, and if you developed a studio piece from the plein air study, grab that too. Bring them to Finer Frames for a special art party on 2/23/23 from 5-8pm. The paintings will be displayed on easels for all to enjoy. Network with other artists. Enjoy warm refreshments, see all of the paintings & vote for your favorite. Prizes awarded @ 6:30pm

HOW: Get outside and paint! Take pictures of yourself, on location, with your painting. Email the pic to gallery@finerframes.com OR Post on FB or IG with #extremepleinair & #finerframes to enter to win raffle prizes:

WHERE: Paintings may be created anywhere outdoors in Idaho.

MORE DETAILS: Artists may enter 1 “Extreme” picture per day into the raffle. If selling work during the Art Party on 2/23, a 50% commission will be collected.
