Meet the Artists

ROB TOWNSEND

Boise Fire Department engine driver & owner of WidowmakerWoodworks

Starting as a just a hobby when Rob wasn’t fighting fires for the Boise Fire Department, Widowmaker Wood Works has grown into a real Idaho game-changer. Rob uses many of the very same wood making techniques that his grandfather used when making furniture for the family homestead in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

ROB HART

Emergency Room Nurse at St. Alphonsus & adventure photographer at Hart Images

Rob Hart draws inspiration from our natural world. He explains what it means to him to capture the beauty around us, “I guess I like to share these beautiful places, and times, with others. I am very fortunate to have been to all (the places photography has taken me) – many of which are not the same now; changed forever. Photography also means travel, meeting new people and cultures, being exposed to so much goodness in the world – something quite lacking in the news these days.

JAMIE DRAKE

Emergency Medical Responder & woodworker
Author Michael Singer calls the mind “the place the soul goes to hide from the heart.”  The moment I read that I knew what was happening in all of my patterns.  My mind and heart were fighting it out, figuring it out, making sense in wood that I could not in my life.
I’m brave, authentic, ecstatic, grateful, untethered, empathetic, full of grace and light. I’m worthy of creating my best self.  And I can work. I re-saw, sand, cut, sand, glue, nail, sand, seal and sand some more (woodcrafters get the sanding joke, ok not really a joke). Then comes time for my favorite part! To usher in a new crew of Mugbots. I save all the scraps from tables, wall art, swings and hanging shelves to create these guys and gals. They take a lot of glue, clamps, hours at the drill press and I boy can I tie knots! I save the best for last, even though I see it on their plain blocks during the whole process, sweet faces. Drilling eyes melts me. We chat, I laugh, they grin and bear me. I name them and I’m done.
