For 3 days in July, artists turned Eagle, Idaho into a live art gallery. Twenty-six painters traveled from all over Idaho and Utah to join in the first Eagle Plein Air Festival. Artists were spotted along roadways, in neighborhoods, parks and along the Boise River.
Here’s what painter Marge Layton said about the event. “I think it was a huge success with no major glitches- a very big feat for the first year. The end results, being the paintings, we’re of a very high caliber and quite professional. A great show of work!”
Painters had 2 days to create outdoor paintings anywhere in the Eagle area, followed by the 2-hour “Quick Draw” competition on Saturday. Each competition was judged separately with over $600 in cash prizes were awarded. 1st Place – David Mensing; 2nd Place Julie Rumsey; 3rd Place Toby Davis; 1st Place Quick Draw – Nadene Kranz; 2nd Place Quick Draw – Steve Humke; 3rd Place Quick Draw – Mark Davis; Artist’s Award – Ken Rupel and People’s Choice – Suzanne Chetwood.
The TOP 40 paintings are now on display at The Gallery at Finer Frames. All are invited to a special show and sale Thursday July 30 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. Meet the artists, see the work and enjoy tastings by Cellar 616 and Olive & Vyne
